According to AARP, wait times have been about 31 minutes on Social Security’s 800 number. A 10x longer than they were in 2012. Meanwhile, the average disability claimant today waits more than two years for a final decision. This wait time carries a huge impact as more than 10,000 people die each year without an answer.

There were also complaints recently of long lines at certain Social Security offices as well.

A letter was sent by the AARP to the Social Security Administration about they long wait times and how they are concerning.
