Incentives for Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Programs
The SSA has also implemented Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) programs to provide
personalized counseling and guidance on work incentives available to SSDI recipients. These programs
educate beneficiaries about how employment will affect their benefits, provide financial planning
assistance, and offer ongoing support to navigate the transition to work successfully. WIPA programs play
a crucial role in empowering individuals with disabilities to make informed decisions about pursuing
employment opportunities while maintaining financial stability and accessing necessary supports.

Expanding Access to Employment Networks
The SSA has expanded access to Employment Networks (ENs), which are private or public entities that
offer employment support services to SSDI recipients and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

beneficiaries. ENs collaborate with individuals to develop Individualized Work Plans (IWP), facilitate job
placements, and provide ongoing support to ensure job retention and career advancement. By fostering
partnerships with ENs, the SSA enhances the availability of tailored employment services and fosters a
supportive environment for individuals transitioning from disability benefits to sustainable employment.
