Despite the initial introduction of the bill on June 9, its progression has been stagnant. However,
with a fresh coalition of supporters, interest has been revived in the legislation. This
renewed enthusiasm comes in response to the potential reductions in Social Security funding amidst the
current U.S. debt ceiling crisis.

Notable figures such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Reps. Jan
Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Val Hoyle (D-Ore.) have joined as cosigners, reinforcing the push for this
expansion of Social Security benefits.
