Starting on April 14, 2025, the SSA implemented stricter identity verification requirements for many of its
programs, including SSDI. If applicants are unable to verify their identity online, they may be required to
appear in person at an SSA office. While these measures are designed to reduce fraud and improve
program integrity, they may also create new challenges for claimants who have limited access to SSA
offices or digital resources.
