SSI beneficiaries who are students under the age of 22 can earn up to $9,230 per year without affecting their SSI benefits. This is part of the Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE), which allows young SSI recipients to earn income while still pursuing education or vocational training.
For SSDI recipients who are students, similar work incentives apply through the SSA’s “work incentive” programs, such as the Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE) and the Trial Work Period (TWP).
